Mount Bachelor Summit

20 miles west and 3,000 feet up from Bend

By: Joel Blatt + Save to a List

In summary, hike ascends 2,600+ feet to a max elevation of 9,000+.  That's not 1,000 feet per mile, but it's pretty close.

Park at Sunrise entrance off Cascade Lakes Byway.  Trail is easy to find; although I saw others hiking up the service road, instead.

As with many summit hikes, you will encounter scree.  Not much an issue going up, but coming down it may grab your ankles.

You will see snow, but trail is well-marked and clear of debris (albeit very slight deadfall.)

It is straight-forward summit.  Peak is without difficulties.  Enjoy views; have safe trip back.  Cheers.
