6 Must-See Arkansas Waterfalls

If Arkansas hasn’t been on your radar, it should be. Its springtime waterfalls are some of the most unique and scenic falls in the country. With spring finally here, it's officially time to get out and chase some waterfalls.

By: Jon King + Save to a List

1. Neil Compton's Double Falls

With no marked trail and a steep scramble down, Compton’s Double Falls makes you earn the view. But who wouldn’t take this 39’ double waterfall as a reward? Added bonus: multiple smaller waterfalls along the way.

2. Hemmed-In-Hollow Falls

At 209 feet, Hemmed-In-Hollow is the tallest waterfall between the Appalachians and the Rockies. Whether accessed by foot, boat or horseback it’s well worth the trek.

3. Twin Falls of Richland Creek

Prepare to get your feet wet with this rewarding hike to Twin Falls of Richland Creek. Tucked away in the remote Richland Creek Wilderness, reaching Twin Falls requires multiple creek crossings and a bit of a scramble. However, the 17’ and 19’ dueling waterfalls create a picturesque Ozark scene quickly making you forget the two extra pounds of mud accumulated on your boots.

4. Eden Falls

Family-friendly. Easily accessible. Imposing caves. And yes waterfalls. Lost Valley’s many features make Eden Falls a must on any Arkansas list.

5. Tea Kettle Falls

With Tea Kettle Falls, timing is everything.  It can be a booger to find and leave you disappointed if it isn’t flowing. Check it out during/after a heavy rain to witness the falls cut through a limestone bluff and drop 46 feet into its emerald pool below.

6. Triple Falls (Twin Falls)

Did you notice this waterfall has two names?  Explore this fall during the rainy season to catch it as a triple.  It’s the shortest hike with arguably the most scenic waterfall of the group.
