Danner Boots Mountain 600 Weatherized Review

The boots you won't want to take off after a long hike and will have your friends asking where you got them.

By: Joseph Gulizia + Save to a List

From the moment I put these boots on I knew they would be my go to boot for this winter's adventures. My first impressions went straight to comfort and style. The look of them is unlike any other hiking boot I have owned. They are truly a work of art and I immediately was complimented walking down the street.

We tested both Men's and Women's and loved them both.

There was no break-in period, as the leather is soft and there are no hot spots for rubbing. This is coming from weeks of use, several 4-5 hour hikes, and long 10-hour days on location shooting. They have been through mud, snow, rain, up and down mountains, and city streets. I really appreciate that Danner went with the Vibram sole. Their technology is unmatched in the outdoor world. There is no lack of grip to them, whether on approach for a climb, walking down a snow/ice covered path, or up a slick sidewalk.

The PrimaLoft keeps my feet toasty even on the coldest of days, and I do not like wearing thick socks with my boots. This is a huge advantage especially on long treks through the snow. I am excited to get into the backcountry with these on.

The Danner Dry liner did not disappoint. My feet stay completely dry, working long hours outside in rainy Vancouver. I wanted to further test their waterproof capabilities by getting into some slushy snow. This is where I have seen a lot of boots fail. After a good 6-mile hike I was thoroughly impressed at how dry the inside of my boots were.

On the Danner site they recommend sizing down as the boot is a bit larger than normal shoes. I sized down a half size and went with the wide sole. They fit perfectly. If you have wide feet I highly recommend getting the wider foot bed, as the normal/narrow foot bed might be very uncomfortable.

So far I have nothing negative to write about on the Mountain 600 Weatherized boots. My only complaint would be that the sticker on the right foot sole sticks too well to the material. I recommend not even trying to pull it off. Otherwise I am beyond stoked with these boots. They are not only my go to boot for adventures this winter, but are becoming a boot I wear daily.
