How to Be an Empowered Adventure-Woman

Or at least some things to consider.

By: Karissa Frye + Save to a List

As a young woman, I find myself constantly looking for answers on how to become whole, confident, and empowered. Who’s to say I know “How to Become an Empowered woman”? Truth is, I don’t. Someone might. My best guess would be Mother Theresa, or maybe even Beyonce. Here, I have simply curated a list of valuable traits that I have seen in myself and others in hopes that readers may take something from it and in turn, become braver and better individuals and adventurers.

Be real.

This is at the top of the list for a reason. There are far too many fake people in the world. You know the type…You can hear it in their voice and see it in their wandering eyes. You shouldn’t be a person made up of smoke and mirrors. Say what you feel. Do what you say. Be unapologetically you.

Be passionate.

Find your passions, follow your passions, spread your passions. Be passionate. It means that you care about something. A lot. It makes that part of you stand out from the rest.

Be kind and respectful.

This one is pretty self-explanatory.

Encourage others.

The truest trait of an empowered woman is wanting to empower others. Empowered women are so confident that they want to spread it to people around them. They want everyone to feel empowered, courageous, and important. Tell someone if you admire them, think they are talented, pretty or whatever!

Stand for something.

There are so many issues going on in today’s world. Big or small, if you don’t agree with something that is going on, take a stand! This is a brave thing to do. Empowered women are always brave.

Don’t take sh*t.

There are so many people who are going to mess with you…for the rest of your life. It could be their insecurity, or that they are having a bad day, or they simply don’t like you. Whatever it may be, you don’t deserve to be treated unfairly and they should know that. There are many ways you can go about not taking sh*t. It doesn’t necessarily mean you need to call that person out or become argumentative. Be silent or be loud, whatever you need to do to let them know you aren’t interested in their sh*tty behavior.

Get out of your comfort zone.

Climb that daunting mountain, tell that person you love them, quit your crappy service-industry job, move into a beat-up van. Amazing things happen when you get out of your comfort zone. It’s here where you can find your truest self.

Listen to your intuition.

This one is easy for women, right? Women are very in tune with their bodies, minds and environment. Listen to your gut. Don’t get entangled in a situation in which you have to constantly second-guess yourself or your motives. In my experience, your intuition knows better than your mind most of the time.

Learn.

Never stop learning. And on the same note, know that you might not know anything. Most everyone has something to teach you and vice versa.

And above all, love yourself.
