Capture the Milky Way over Emerald Bay
South Lake Tahoe, California
Description
Added by Brian Walker
A beautiful scene located in one of the most amazing places on Earth. Bright stars. Reflecting waters. Pure beauty.
There is a reason Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed places in the world and that is because of its stunning beauty! I am sure you have experienced it during the day, but the bay really comes alive at night. The Milky Way reaches over all of Emerald Bay and it is a sight to see! Head out there after the sun has been down for an hour and look up and catch the beautiful Milky Way. Even if you are there early it is still an experience to see all the stars. Almost zero light pollution allows you to capture millions of stars!
Grab your camera and head anywhere you'd like around the bay to capture the night sky. A couple popular spots are the edge of the bay on the pullouts, Lower Eagle Falls and the Vikingsholm Trailhead.
Now get out there and capture the beauty!
**Second shot represents a clear night after the Milky Way has risen.

Reviews
Not sure if there is too much light pollution or if the clouds were in the way. Might need more research on when to see the milkway

I've tried doing this twice now, and both times the sky has been too cloudy for very many stars. I want to come back and try it again!
