Ski Outer Outer Limits at Alpine Meadows

Truckee, California

Description

Added by Ashley Chang

This is a sidecountry ski run starting in Alpine Meadows ski resort and heading into National Forest land. Check for safety first, but in this place you can find fresh powder days after everywhere else is tracked out!

Starting off of Lakeview chair at Alpine Meadows, head to the far right towards the sign for Outer Limits run. Traverse across the run and past the Ski Area Boundary signs on the far side. Continue through the trees where you will find a series of clearings generally full of untracked powder. The farther you continue across, the less tracks you'll run into!

Warning: This area is not patrolled by ski patrol. Be aware of safety risks and bring appropriate equipment.

Feel free to turn down wherever you like. As you ski down try to cut back to skiers' right towards the resort. If you do this high enough you can take a small road to Sherwood lift. However, there's a gully and it's often hard to turn away from the great snow to cut back. No worries! If you continue down the mountain you'll come to a road at the bottom. Take off your skis/board and walk to the right until you hit Sherwood lift. This should be a 10-15 minute walk. The farther that you're able to cut to the right, the shorter the walk will be.
