Born and raised in Arizona, I have a deep love of my home state! When I'm not working, you'll find me on a hiking trail, swinging in a hammock or paddling a kayak. And I'm always on the search for the next perfect camping spot.

This scenic drive is a must do, especially when driving past Lost Dutchman State Park. The cliffs are spectacular during sunset - or if you're luck - in the winter with a dusting of snow!

This hike was so much fun! Short, with pretty decent incline (your knees may hate you on the way down, lol). Great views and the cave portion is super unique. Note that this is a really popular trail, so I recommend going early so you have a better chance at finding trailhead parking. Bring more water than you think you need, snacks and make sure to leave no trace! Note that there are no restrooms at the trailhead.

This hike is incredibly beautiful, with lots of unique rock features. But know that the incline will have your legs screaming (and I'm in pretty decent shape). But the views are 100% worth the challenge. Be smart - bring more water than you think you need, snacks and leave no trace! There's restrooms at the trailhead, and remember that the parking lot gate is locked at sunrise/sunset (check the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy website for exact times).

Oh my, if you're looking for solitude, this is not your hike! But if you're looking for amazing views, and you don't mind dodging other hikers/trail runners, this is a great spot. Perfect place to watch the sunrise/sunset. Parking can be iffy, since its so popular...

If it's wildflower season, make sure to check out this trail. Lots of beautiful cactus flowers too!

I never suspected that at the end of this 25 mile bumpy dirt road, I would find magic. These campgrounds have the most beautiful views I've ever experienced in AZ. Because of that, they fill up quickly... I avoid the weekend, because of this being a popular spot for the NAU crowd, and I prefer it to be nice and quiet when I'm camping :) Can't wait to go back!

I have to say, this is one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever done in the fall - the aspen trees are spectacular. Very easy, with little to no incline. If you're looking to see fall color, this is your spot. Great hike, but also lots of space to stop for a picnic if that's more your style. Note: during the fall when the color is at its peak, you HAVE to get to the parking early. It's a madhouse, with cars lining both sides of the road (drive slowly!). But well worth the effort of finding a spot!

One of my favorite hikes in the Valley - easy with moderate parts. It's a loop trail and the rangers tell you to go counter-clockwise, but if you want the prettiest views, and most gradual climb, go clockwise :) The views are extra special when it's stormy, or when there's a bit of snow. Make sure to stay on trail and leave no trace!

I love this hike, but note that it does get a bit challenging at the end. Almost completely flat until the last section, which is a pretty steep climb up to the cave entrance. Always bring more water than you think you need, lots of sunblock and watch out for rattlers. Note that there are also bats in this cave, you can hear them squeaking above you :)

This trail is on the harder side of moderate, but well worth it! I was able to complete prior to the Sawtooth Fire, which burned a good portion of this trail... Views from the top were beautiful! Not so sure now :(

This is a wonderful trail, very very busy. Make sure to get there right when it opens, otherwise, you'll be a part of a line of cars waiting to get in. Water shoes are a must, bring enough water. Easy trail, lots of families. STUNNING in winter (but call before, since it does close occasionally). Fall is also beautiful, with lots of color.
