Quiet Campground. Beach Camping (if you reserve). Serene Central Coast. Surfing.

Take the 101 North out of LA and follow it till it meets back up with the 1 just south of Lompoc where you make a left turn onto Jalama Rd. If you forgot supplies, continue to Lompoc where you can buy whatever you need.

Follow the winding road all the way to the beach, where your only option is the campground. The Jalama Beach Store is known for its burger, so stop in during dining hours for a bite.

Two surf spots in one. A fun peaky beach break that gets pretty good at times and a left hand reed break called “Tarantulas”. This wave can hold up to triple overhead! So watch out. I would consider this an intermediate to advance surf spot. It’s wind prone so go surf early.

I love this place. I always try to go towards the end of the peak season, sometime around August or super late July. It's warm, the wind is tame, and it's not terribly crowded. Walk up the left side of the beach and hang out in your own secluded beach/cliff section, walk up the right side to hike up to the lighthouse, and then head to the shack for a tasty Jalama burger.
