Great island living with endless views on Catalina Island. This is a also a great overnight trip for the whole family.

An island camping escape is a mere 50 minute boat ride away from the southern California coast. If you're feeling generous with your funds, you can also opt for a helicopter ride, leaving out of Long Beach and 15 minutes later landing in Catalina Island.

Two Harbors campground is unique with the ample ocean views, running water and access to a plethora of hikes and trails. Something to note is that getting to the campgrounds requires a short but relatively decent hill to climb from the harbor/dock. The campsites are very roomy and come with recycle, trash, water and a shaded table. There are no flushable toilets at this campground, only portable toilets scattered around the grounds. You can choose to backpack and carry all of your camping needs or you can pay for the helpful workers to take your gear up to your campsite. If you are going in the summer months, the heat is relentless and its highly recommended to bring a cooler and ice. Also note that there are swarms of yellow jackets that harass the visitors. That may be the ONLY draw back to camping here.

The activities really are endless with, snorkeling, diving, hiking, SUP and kayaking to start with. The general store and restaurant offer good alternatives for meals if you don't want to eat camping grub. Helpful tip: Poke at the restaurant, although pricey, is candy for your tastebuds.

Camp at Catalina's Two Harbors Reviews

The site I chose was more secluded than most as it had a lot of trees and bushes surrounding it. This was great for privacy however it was also as area frequented by fox. There was one sleeping nest to my text at night. Just be sure to store your food properly

Hung out here ten years ago, and it is so much less inhabited than Avalon. lovely place

I backpacked the entire island in 5 days and this place was definitely the best camp site.

Feels like a vacation far from home! Great campground, relaxed atmosphere in town...views worth a million bucks!! Campsites right along water do not have shade structures and get a tad windy during day. Campground surprisingly full mid week - people please teach your kids the art of quiet talking in the morning!! The walk to town takes just a few minutes. The restaurant food is great and the Pina colada at the bar can't be missed! Altogether an amazing trip, will definitely come back soon!!

We visited this beautiful harbor in 2012. This little village feels like you went back twenty years in time. It's a great place for looking for serenity and R&R. There is a quaint village that has an extremely laid back feel. Walk the strip of land over to the western side of the island and you may encounter buffalo along the road. We met up with friends from USC in the marine department, as they have a large lab on the edge of the harbor.
