Quick hike with tons of trails and boulders. Great for history buffs. The opposite of crowded.

A short drive from Los Angeles or the San Fernando Valley lay hills filled with trails and spectacular views of the SFV. There's no "official" parking lot, and the entrance can be tricky to find (we started at the top and worked our way across and then down). Trails stretch across the ridge and meander down to the valley. Trains still chug through the tunnels in the mountains, and the original stones that paved Santa Susana Pass Road still mark the trail. I highly recommend taking a lunch break up on the boulders that line the ridge, then dropping down into the valley. Although the climb down feels gradual, don't be fooled! It's a haul getting back up.
