Description

Added by Bianca Isidro

Hiking to Sunset Peak will provide you with endless views of Mount Baldy and the surrounding mountains; and, on a clear day, you'll be able to see the entire Los Angeles sprawl.

In order to get to the Sunset Peak Trailhead, utilize Google Maps to take you to the location provided. There is very little parking (only a small pull off along Glendora Ridge Road), but this trail is rarely traveled, so there should be enough space regardless of the time you decide to hike! Just remember to bring your Forest Adventure Pass!

Once you park, follow the trail as you slowly ascend to the top of Sunset Peak. There are a couple junction points that you'll encounter during your hike, you can easily navigate these by choosing the direction that ascends. Around the 7 mile marker there will be a fork, both paths will take you to Sunset Peak. The left path is a steep ascent, and also a shortcut. Choosing this path will require a little bit of scrambling, but is worth the challenge because it will give you the same views in the pictures provided. The right path is the easier option since it does not require any scrambling, but will still give you panoramic views of the surrounding area. Once you reach Sunset Peak, take in the views, then return the way you came.

Sunset Peak via South Trailhead Reviews

Did this in the snow in January 2017. The hike is pretty dull as it is essentially an exposed fire road. View on top makes up for it.
