Lots of parking at the beginning of the trail, but can be really busy during the weekends. If you go during the summer times, it can get really hot, so bring lots of water, wear a hat, and wear sunscreen. If it’s not overcast, you can see some of the most amazing views from the top.

Had to subtract one star because the parking around the area is a pain. Wonderful to see a little Venice in Southern California. Fun to roam around and daydream about the houses and the little boats you see in the area.

Most go on hikes to avoid the types of people you’ll run into, along the hike. But if you like people watching and want to catch the odd reality star, then this is the place for you.

Nice easy hike with great views. Go early so you can park at the bottom. It could get pretty hot up top, so make sure to bring a hat, wear sunscreen and bring lots of water. Not much tree coverage towards the top. Can get pretty busy during the weekends.

I love the beach trails and barred rock around the pier. The pier can get kind of crazy with all the people on the weekends and during the summer. So I recommend going off-season and during the week. avoid the traffic and cost of parking by either using public transportation, or the mini bike paths that lead to the pier.

The parking lots can get crowded and often times there are too many people during the high season. But, if you go off-season, and mid week, you can have the pier all to yourself. I get there by bike because there are plenty of bike paths that lead you to the pier and you don’t have to deal with the crazy parking situation or traffic to get there.

Make sure to get an early start and bring lots of water. It can get pretty busy during the day, and as the day progresses, it can get a bit chilly, depending on what time of the year you are hiking. So bring layers you can pull on and off.

Great place to set out on a kayak here. The water is accessible by many places and is chill, as far as other watercraft are concerned. Periodically you’ll see a seal’s head pop out of the water which always startles me!

One of the more shorter trails on our trip, but one of the coolest by far! The interpretive signs were great and explaining the different trees that were there. Where else can you go to see trees that are over 300 years old!?! if you blink, you might miss it, so make sure to keep your eye out for the sign to the trail and location.

An amazing hike and easy on the knees. Best time to go is to watch the sunset. A warning though, this trail has gotten so popular that it’s starting to effect the trails. Please read the signs and stay on the marked trails. Too many people trampling the delicate surroundings to get their instagramable shots. This is why we can’t have nice things!🤦🏻‍♀️ Stay on the boardwalk and paths and don’t make an area worse, even if you see a “desire line”. Just because others have done it doesn’t mean you should make it worse. I hate to say it but the park my have to limit the amount of people that enter, like Angels Landing in Zion, just to protect it from being destroyed.😞 Had to minus one star because of stupid humans.

Staying at the cabins here was better than we could’ve imagined! Everything you need and more. Stayed in cabin #4 and has a sleeping loft. You can wake up to an incredible view of the water. The owner Ton is super nice and helpful. Makes a mean breakfast next door too. Fire pit and bbq also available to use at your leisure. You can also borrow all the linens you need, for a minimal charge.

By far one of my favorite beaches in Nova Scotia! Soft sandy beaches and a lovely boardwalk that leads you through marshes, where you can see various birds. A great place to see a sunset! Just be prepared…there are no bathrooms and the parking is small: only a few spaces. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

We went later in the day when they were fewer crowds. Made it easier to find parking and the place I wasn’t riddled with people. It’s still very important to be careful where you step, because even this year, 2022, two people were swept out to sea in one died. They built a beautiful platform and boardwalk. Where are you can take in the views. There is also a nice bathroom that is accessible to everyone.

Words cannot describe how amazing this hike is. Well maintained and we went a week after hurricane Fiona hit. It devastated most of the area, but the park’s staff did an amazing job of clearing the trail and reopen the areas that were badly damaged. Some areas can get steep, but there are stairs to help navigate the areas. An amazing view at the top is your reward for your efforts!

A wonderful place to escape the city. So many beautiful trees and flowers. A great place to explore and find nooks to retreat too.

Impossible to take a bad photo! The city a night lights up and reflects off the water. So beautiful!

What a great view of the city! A surprise and great place to explore.

So much to do and see here, it would take you the whole day to explore the place. There are dedicated bike paths that take you through the entire park. There is a lake and lots of shady areas to picnic under. Only downside is there a a lot of people there, on the weekends, so parking can be a challenge.

My favorite park in Downtown LA. An easy gravel loop, that goes around the edge of the park. There are other paths you can take, that takes you through the park. Lots of natives plants all around, and shady places to sit. If it weren’t for the spectacular view of the DTLA skyline, you would never know you were in the middle of the city.

Even though this hike is in the middle of the city, you’ll still see a lot of wildlife around. If you’re hiking with small dogs, make sure they are on leash and be aware of your surroundings. On this particular hike, we encountered coyotes in the distance. So, if you’re hiking in the early mornings, might be a good idea to walk with hiking sticks just in case. With the drought here in California, all the animals are looking for any opportunity for easy prey. Still, a good hike and can be steep at times and you’ll get a great view of the observatory above.

The stairs are great for a quick cardio workout. Bathrooms and drinking fountain are easily accessible. Later in the day, there is plenty of space to workout overlooking a view of the city. A tip for solo females: Since the park is close to downtown LA, sometimes there are people you should be wary about hanging out on the stairs.

This is about a 4 mile loop and took me over two hours to complete. Parts of it are extremely exposed, so wear sunscreen, bring a hat, and make sure to have lots of water. Closer to the top, you’ll come across a Amir’s Garden, which I highly recommend you explore, closer to the top. There you will find a spigot for a water, but sometimes it isn’t working so make sure to have your own. Might be due to the drought. During the summers it can get blazing hot hiking this route, so better to go early in the morning or later in the day during the hotter times of the year. It’s a pretty popular loop so you’ll encounter quite a few people but early in the mornings are pretty quiet.
