Description

Added by Kristen May

This is a beautiful hike in Calvert County Maryland with both lush forest lands and sandy shores that is perfect for all skill levels.

Starting in the parking lot you will follow the Red Trail for 1.3 miles until you reach the cliffs that give this park its name. The trail to the cliffs is both easy to follow and gorgeous at every turn. This is a fairly flat trail and is perfect for all skill levels as well as dog-friendly. Once at the sandy beach be sure to look through the sand for shark's teeth as they are easily found here. Once you are finished at the beach follow the same trail back to the parking lot for a total of 3.6 miles round trip.

Hike the Red Trail, Calvert Cliffs SP Reviews

Best to visit this park when it's dry. The 1.8 mile hike to the water can get a bit muddy otherwise!

I did the Red trail a short 1.8 one way to the beach where you can search for fossils and shark teeth! You won’t be disappointed!

It's a beautiful, well-maintained trail which will take you straight to the beach!

This is such a fun place. I'd also recommend a sifter if you want to look for fossils (although there are often some there).
