Description

Added by Josiah Roe

A desert oasis of relative solitude tucked away at the base of the Sierra Laguna mountains, miles away from the tourists and chaos of Cabo San Luca and La Paz, with gorgeous canyon views and a 25' foot jump into a seemingly bottomless pool.

Cascada Sol De Mayo can be found just beyond the village of Santiago off Highway 1, the main road between La Paz and San Jose Del Cabo. After turning off Highway 1 towards Santiago, simply follow the signs for the "Waterfalls", Cascada Sol De Mayo, and/or Ranchero Ecologico Sol De Mayo.

Eventually the road turns to dirt and dead-ends at the Ranchero, which has bathrooms and a small, sometimes-open restaurant.

Follow the well-marked trail past the restaurant about .5 miles, over the nearest ridgeline and down into the canyon.

Often times the Ranchero will ask for a donation of about $5 USD for help in maintaining the facilities.

Cascada Sol de Mayo Waterfall Reviews

Such a beautiful area, not much of a hike but the waterfall is gorgeous! It does cost about 5$ per person and they have a xolo guide dog which is cool! If you head down the river it leads to a second, much smaller cascade but still very nice. I went earlier in the day and we had it to ourselves almost the whole time too!

the drive was beautiful, the hospitality was great, the hike was beautiful as well and the water fall was stunning. We played there for hours, tuning and sliding down the fall, we encountered many many frogs on our hike back up

I was skeptical about this side adventure, but am very pleased we went! The dirt road took a while but once you pull up to the ranch it will all be worth it. Very very quick "hike" to the pool. The owner has Mexican hairless dogs that are very unique and friendly! We saw some water snakes but they minded there own in the grassy sides of the pool, just be mindful. Worth it, go if you can!

I found out about this place via this site and had to visit during my stay in Cabo....Its about an hour north from San Jose Del Cabo and once you get to the town this gem is in, its a good maybe 30 minute offroad drive to the check-in point. Don't let the barking dogs scare you...there's one that comes up and will probably even follow you to the 10 minute hike to the falls. The hike isnt anything crazy, its like a 2 on a scale to 10. I got there around 10 am and I had the place to myself for the first 30-40 minutes.... total, there were about 6 people there in the few hours i stayed, plus a crazy person who actually did the jump off the rock! That is actually a sketchy part of the adventure, and I love cliff jumping, just getting to it in general is weird and the jump outcrop has now room for error. All in All its a perfect piece of paradise...when you go back to town, you'll pass a little taco spot/deli that serves cheap beer! DO IT UP!!!!

This is a very easy hike but really worth doing, it's amazing to find a waterfall in the middle of the dessert, the water is cool and crystal clear great spot for Photos and relaxing, we saw a couple of water snakes in the water and a rattle snake came out from under a rock we were sitting on, we gave it some space and it calmly went away I guess wildlife get attracted to the water hole too, the guy at the entrance has several Xoloitzcuintles (Mexican Hairless Dog) that are very friendly and worth checking out.
