San Mateo Huexoyucan is a small town sited in the state of Tlaxcala, where there is a new bouldering zone for all levels.

To reach the boulder area of San Mateo, you have to arrive to the state capital, the city of Tlaxcala; so you must take highway 150 México-Puebla-Veracruz, and passing (50 meters) of the toll booth San Martín Texmelucan, take the diversion 117 to Apizaco leading to the city of Tlaxcala. From México city to Tlaxcala is 1:45 min. When you arrive to the city of Tlaxcala, you must drive by the freeway to San Mateo, it's a 45 minute trip.

Once in San Mateo you must go to the primary school in town (there is only one) which is located at the end of the main street. It is a very small town, if you have any questions anyone will tell you the right direction kindly. Once in the school, you should turn right on the dirt road, cars will be parked a few meters ahead.

In the place where you leave your vehicle starts a short walk downhill to the river, on the road you can go to see the rocks. Once on the river you can go in any direction, there are boulders downstream and upstream, from V0 to V8 and some projects in process.

Surrounded by hills, woods, meadows and rock; bouldering area of San Mateo is an excellent place to enjoy the peace of nature and the intensity of outdoor rock climbing.
