Las Ventanas is an amazing rock climbing spot for beginners and intermediates. It is located in a national park called El Chico. This is in the state of Hidalgo, just one hour and a half drive from Mexico City.
Its is very accesible by car, you have to drive as if you where heading to the town El Chico. On the road named "Carretera a Mineral del Chico" you will see a sign to your left that says "Las Ventanas". Go in there. There is plenty of space to park your car.
The rock climbing walls are very conveniently located not more than an 8 min walk from the parking. There are very clear marked paths that take you to them. You cant get lost.
Now, most of the climbing routs are very easy ones. Definitely for beginners. The routs are 20 to 30 meters long, great views, loads of fun.
There is the possibility to camp in that park. There is something like a park ranger 24/7 at the spot. You can also stay at the town El Chico, which small, charming and magical. Or you can always drive back to Mexico City.
