Description

Added by Javier Casillas

Los Pericos is a rock climbing zone on the outskirts of the city of Puebla. It has more than 80 routes for sport climbing and free climbing; there are routes for all levels, from 5.8 to 5.14, with walls up to 100 ft. It's a perfect place to go climbing because of the variety of routes and styles offered, many cracks and boulders.

To get from México city, you should take the highway to Puebla and 19.2 miles after passing the toll booth of San Martín Texmelucan take the deviation to the right to "Periférico ecológico" and continue for 16.7 miles more until the diversion of "Africam safari" where you should turn right and continue 4.8 miles before keep right to follow the road to Tetela, on this road you are going to drive 1.1 miles to come out to the dirt road to the left, named as road to "Los candiles". You must follow the big dirt road 1.9 miles until you see a big house on the right side of the road, 650 ft. ahead there is a spot for parking cars.

You should star walking, through a big gate that is open, walking down a slope toward the lagoon for 10 minutes, you will not see the rock wall as you go walking on it, just when you go through a small stone bridge (almost not visible), you should take a small path to the left for about 5 minutes and will reach the base of the walls.

It is not necessary to pay, and you can camp there if you want to. It is important that you check very well your equipment before using it and remember to take mosquito repellent with you. Enjoy your climb.

Rock Climb in Los Pericos Reviews

This crag is wonderful, with a huge variety in routes (well, as long as you at least climb 10a). The approach is easy if you can get your car/taxi/Uber to get you to the nearest gate (which they are usually willing to do). We stayed in Puebla and went out to the crag for long days. Tons of neat features. Be sure to have lots of quick draws. Some routes (all single pitch) required as many as 18.
