Swim in Cenote Cristalino
Chacalal, Mexico
Description
Added by Neonconflagrations
Located adjacent to the highway, Cenote Cristalino is one of several well-developed cenotes and recreational areas along this stretch of road.
Cenote Cristalino is about 25km south of Playa Del Carmen, and is built up to handle crowds. The cenote is surface level, although a portion of it leaves the mangrove jungle and heads beneath the limestone shelf, a nice contrast between open swimming and feeling as if you are in a cave. There is a 3 meter tall jumping platform, and benches around and half-submerged in the water for spectators. Overall, the swimming area is spacious with a popular central open area and several little pockets that you can head off to if you're looking to escape the crowds.
A small restaurant sells snacks and drinks. Life jackets are provided and lifeguards watch the water. Lockers are available for rent.
The clear water makes this a good cenote for snorkeling at, and divers can access an underwater cave complex from here.
Cenote Cristalino is open daily from 8am-6pm. Admission is MX$150 per person.
