Mosquito Falls in Pictured Rocks is a great quick hike to the waterfall that you can make in under an hour (roundtrip) from the parking lot!
When you want to pack the backpack for a short day hike in the Pictured Rocks, look no further than hiking to Mosquito Falls!
Start at the Chapel Basin parking lot at the far northwest corner (if you see signs for Chapel Rock, you picked the wrong trail!), and you will be gifted with a great hike downhill at first and then a relatively flat trail down to the waterfall. The Google Maps estimate is pretty accurate at 24 minutes to the falls one way.
You will first see the falls from the top. There will be an unmarked path down to the falls there will be a 5 foot shelf that you can climb down to the river basin and walk through the water at the bottom.
This hike would be ideal on cooler days as the bugs notoriously populate this area near the water!
I would set aside a good hour to do this full hike, otherwise continue forward to Mosquito Beach and/or Lake Superior where you can loop around for Chapel Rock!
