The road is unpaved and rutted, but fine if you take your time. Took the family yesterday with perfect cool, temps and it was great. Moderate uphills, flowing streams, and views for miles once you reach the bald. It is reminiscent of the Road highlands and a perfect place for a picnic.

This one has it all doesn't it? Hike through a dense forest, coming up through the valley with wildflowers, climbing the ridge and stopping every 10 minutes to marvel at the peaks around you. And then the scramble to the lookout...breathtaking. Oh yeah and the ice blue lake ain't bad either. Perfect hike.

My family and I did this in March of this year in the before times. Moderately strenuous, but the views are really great. Take your time when you reach the chimney tops because it does tend to get windy. In March everything is washed out, but this hike in the fall must be stunning.

It's a tough one (even though the trail is paved in places and well marked) and you'll be feeling it when you get to the top. I'd recommend going past the platform and scramble on the rocks. That said people have died here so use common sense and don't do it if you don't feel comfortable.

Right off the overlook this is indeed a super short leg stretcher, but the view makes it worth it. Kids love scrambling on the outcrops, but be careful, the drop off is straight down.

We didn't see a soul until we made our way down. Love the little meadow before you enter the forest. The views were nice, but there were a lot of flies. Big ones too.

The AT and Salamander Trail was not scenic unless you find a walk in the woods scenic. Peaceful yes, but boring. The Salamander Trail felt a lot longer than the .7 miles to the top, but maybe that was it was our last trail after a full day of hiking.

Did this with my 5 and 8 year old and it was rocky and uphill the majority of the way. The canopy kept the sun off of us and the summit is spacious and beautiful. Great place to have a nice lunch.
