Hike Parkville Nature Sanctuary

Located just outside of Kansas City, MO, the Parkville Nature sanctuary is a great little place for hiking, photography, or just an escape from the city. The Nature Sanctuary is located directly behind the Platte County Health Department (1201 East St, Parkville, MO 64152). There is a parking lot located directly behind the Health Department building; park in the lot and you will spot the trailhead from the parking lot. The Nature Sanctuary is approximately 117 acres in size with about 3 miles of hiking trails (there are 5 trails ranging in distances of 1/10 mile to 1.5 miles). If you are looking for a longer more challenging hike, the Whitetail Trail might be up your alley (you may also spot a whitetail deer if you are lucky). If you are interested in seeing a small waterfall, you can do so by following the Old Kate Trail which is just under a mile in length. The Nature Sanctuary is open every day from sunrise to suset. 

Rules:

• NO dogs or other pets allowed on the trails
• Stay on trails
• Put trash in proper receptacles
• No unauthorized vehicles (including bicycles, skateboards, etc.)
• No fires
• No hunting, fishing, or trapping
• No picking, collecting, or digging
• No firearms
• No camping
• No weddings
