About this place

Added by Bryan Young

Enjoy a stunning ridgeline hike, summer snow and breathtaking views along the way to an amazingly serene and relaxing lakeside campsite.

From the Camp Misery Trailhead (elev. 5,717 ft) take the left Trail 8 for .6 miles. At the junction continue left for a 1.3 mile gently ascent into Jewel Basin.

Nearing Twin Lakes continue left on Trail 7 for .6 miles until you reach Trail 55. Continue right, and make sure that after a short .3 miles you keep on the trail and keep left on Trail 55. Do not turn right on Trail 719. Follow Trail 55 for 1.5 miles along the ridgeline. Make sure to take epic photos and enjoy the summer bear grass!

To your left you will see Tongue Mtn. Keep on Trail 55 along the ridge (do not take the left Trail 49 around the 1.2-mile mark). Once past here you’ll keep on the ridge for a mile before you make your descent toward Clayton Lake. Even in the summer you will get to experience some snow on the ridge. Keep following the trail as it leads you on the descent toward Clayton Lake. At the next trail junction keep following Trail 55 as it brings you around the east side of the lake to your campsite!

Once you have arrived pitch the tent, set up the hammock and enjoy a relaxing lake swim! There is even a man-made toilet to top it off!
