Description

Added by Jon King

This easy out-and-back hike will take you to two mountain lakes and the beautiful cascading Redrock Fallsthe.

The hike to Redrock Falls begins at the Swiftcurrent Pass Trailhead in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park.  The trailhead is located at the western end of the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn parking lot.

From the trailhead, head straight toward Swiftcurrent Pass and Redrock Falls.  At approximately 0.3 miles you’ll notice a small spur trail on the left-hand side which leads to Fishercap Lake.  Make sure to take the short 100 yard trek down to the lake.  Keep a look out for moose feeding in the lake as they frequent the area.  After enjoying Fishercap Lake, retrace your steps back to the main trail.

Continue on the forested trail toward the falls.  You’ll soon have sweeping views of Swiftcurrent Valley and its surrounding mountains.  At approximately 1.7 miles you’ll reach Redrock Lake.  Take a break along the shoreline to enjoy the scenery.

Redrock Falls is located at the western end of the lake. Take time to explore and climb around the red rocks for which the waterfall is named for.  There are plenty of spots here to relax, take pictures and picnic.

To return simply retrace your steps.

Allow 1.5 - 2 hrs to complete this hike.

Finally, this hike is in bear country.  Always carry bear spray!

We decided to an easy trail after our hike to Cracker Lake and this was just the trail we were looking for. Relatively flat with great views and not too long. The waterfalls themselves are spectacular, but the lakes along the way also provide some great scenery. This trail is perfect for families or those wanting to experience the park without having to do a 12 mile trail.

This hike was the first place I saw a moose and her baby and it was SO COOL! The hike itself is easy, with a wonderful little patch of aspen, and the reward of the waterfalls engulfed by the mountains is splendid. On a side note: An elder friend of mine worked on this trail with the CCC and it was amazing to be able to see where all of his stories took place.
