Silver Falls is an 80ft waterfall that is located off of Lake Fork Trail on your way to Lost Lake, if you can make it there during the winter you can see the waterfall when its frozen. While being a normal hike in the summer, during the winter, the hike is harder but more rewarding.

Thinking we could drive straight to the trailhead in the winter was our first incorrect assumption. When we arrived, we discovered that Lake Fork Road is closed after a certain point, adding another mile or so to our hike. The snow was falling very heavily and we decided to start out and call it whenever the weather got too bad to try to test -- make sure you check local weather reports before heading out and be sure to let others know where you're headed. Also be sure to pack avalanched gear (beacon, probe, shovel) and know how to use it.

The hike, about an 8 mile round trip, was on the top of our list to conquer while in this weather, making good time we eventually came up on the last leg of the hike, the last leg consisted of huge boulders and insanely deep snow (even for snowshoes) but we pushed on and and finally came up on the waterfall, it was everything we thought it would be. When we finally accomplished the adventure we aimed to do, we were so excited, your legs were no longer sore, you weren't hungry or tired, it all went away and was replace by simple awe.
