Ride extremely technical mountain bike trails with beautiful desert vistas just outside of Las Vegas.

The Cowboy Trails offer a perfect break from climbing in Red Rock Canyon or a night on the Town in Las Vegas. You will need to be as tough as a cowboy (or cowgirl) to ride these trails. It is just as much of a workout going up as it is down. However, this area offers you the chance to hone your technical skills in a beautiful desert arena. You will find yourself cruising through beautiful gardens of rock and cactus as you explore this wonderful part of the Mojave Desert.

The trails starts at the parking lot just off of Fossil Ridge Rd. It is recommended that you climb the Bunny Trail on your way up. Not very many people descend this trail and it is a bit easier to climb than the other trails in the area. Many of the trails here are very difficult to follow. It is recommended that you either buy or download a map. Follow the Bunny Trail on to the Fossil Canyon trail and take it to the end. At this point you will be at the confluence of a few trails. From here you can descend the trail you came up, Kibbles n' Bits or keep going on the Outer Loop for a longer ride.

This area is frequented by equestrian riders. If you are on a bike, always yield to those on a horse or even get off your bike if you feel you may spook the horse.

It is also very important to bring an extra bike tube on this ride because of the large amount of sharp rocks and cactus.

There are great trails on both sides of highway 160. Stop in the bike shop in Blue Diamond for beta or pick up a patch kit. They also rent bikes for those visiting. Free compressed air at the gas station there in Blue Diamond. Desert riding means keeping some sort of stop leak solution in your tires. WATER!!! Bring more than you think you'll need. Wild Burros and horses roam free here along with the occasional rattle snake.
