This short detour off I-95 is the perfect place to stretch your legs and relax on your drive up the New England Coast.

Prescott Park is a waterfront park in Portsmouth, New Hampshire that is famous for its extensive flower gardens.  During the warmer months, visitors can enjoy the blooms of the annual and perennial beds, sit in the shade of the Japanese crabapple trees, and relax on the white benches along the perimeter of the garden.  Beyond the well-known formal garden, the 10-acre park also features a vast riverside lawn, three boardwalk piers for fishing, picnic tables, shelters, and grills for public use.  There is no cost to enter the park, but patrons must pay a fee to use either of the two public docking facilities on the Piscataqua River (or to use the park for wedding or civil ceremonies).  If you’re visiting in July or early August, you can also enjoy the lineup of special events at the park’s popular Arts Festival, including live music and theater and movies on the lawn.  This park is well worth a detour from a drive along the coast, just leave your pup and alcohol in the car, as neither are permitted on park grounds. For full details on the park, visit their website.

Relax at Prescott Park Reviews

I have never seen such elaborate flower gardens in a town park. Throw in the water view, picnic tables, playground equipment, and outdoor theater in the summer, and this park becomes a must-visit destination!

Beautiful views and scenery. Perfect for photographers & artists- or anyone taking a stroll! Public bathrooms were a plus and they were super clean!

Very nice, will definitely come back in the summer !
