Beautiful pond for relaxing and taking in Spring or Fall seasons. Part of the Appalachian Trail.

At the end of the parking lot, cross over the bridge and follow the Appalachian Trail (AT, white blazes) to a V-intersection. Turn right onto Dunnfield Creek Trail (green blazes), which will take you past a few cascades and up to Sunfish Pond.

Relax and eat lunch at the pond. When you're ready, take the AT back to the parking lot, following the white blazes.

Hike to Sunfish Pond Reviews

Hiked around here while going through the area on the AT. It was a nice peaceful "pond" (I'd call it more like a small lake). Although nothing spectacular, it is a point that sticks out in my memory from the hike so it was atleast memorable!

While camping in Worthington state forest, we stopped at the trail head for Mount Tammany and did the Mt. Tammany to sunfish pond loop. This hike was strenuous but doable, I'd say for an intermediate hiker. The hike up to Mount Tammany didn't take too long but the route to sunfish pond was pretty long, at points we were wondering if we were headed the right direction. We went during october and the foliage around the pond was beautiful. We took a rest there and headed back down the AT to the parking lot we entered on. It was about a 10-11 mile hike.

Very fun loop. About an 8 mile loop with some great views of Delaware river and nice resting point at Sunfish pond. Rocky and steep decent but well worth the home back along Dunfield creek.

I hiked this trail and camped on Sunfish Pond a few times. It is almost a 4 mile hike with about 1000' elevation gain. Very rocky at times. There is a pretty cool Cairn field partially hidden on the AT that is a pretty cool spot to check out. I have only hiked the AT up and back so I have no comment on the other trails that are available from the parking lot however I did hear from other hikers/ backpackers that the other trails are just as nice. Check out the views from the Mt. Tammany trail from the lot too. Bring plenty of water and please remember to pack your trash out.
