Distance: approximately 2 miles round trip. Calm water. Tidal pools at low tide. Osprey’s nesting.

Starting at the small beach at the end of Bay Blvd, paddle heading south. You will need to pass through the boat canal so keep an eye out for speeding boats. You're able to see the island from the starting point so you really don’t have to worry about getting lost. You will reach the island after paddling about .9 miles out. This is a great place to dock and do a little fishing if you bring a pole along. Once reaching the island, you have the option to go around it or at high tide take the canals through sections of the island. There are various Osprey nest on the island (be conscious when paddling through) as well as sections where the water is shallow enough to see all marine life under you. When the grass is gown out it makes you feel as though you aren’t in the middle of a busy bay, but rather in a secluded marsh. I suggest planning ahead and going when it is high tide and the sun is setting (or rising). It makes for a really great experience and some awesome photos.
