Bald Mountain, can be a nice short sunset hike or a long backpacking trip. starting a cross from Iona Island is 4 mile hike out and back to the summit of Bald Mountain, pretty steep although well worth it the views are absolutely incredible, from the summit you have great views of the of the Bear Mountain bridge across you'll see Anthony's nose and across from Anthony's nose you'll see Bear Mountain and Perkins Memorial Tower. I love camping at the summit of Bald Mountain can be a nice 10 mile backpacking trip going up Dunderberg trail coming down vie 1777E Doodletown trail although is best to spot cars. Winter time from the summit of Bald Mountain you see bald eagles flying up and down the Hudson River. Going up on Dunderberg trail you'll see a tunnel and old mine and on your way back 1777E Doodletown trail youll be walking through the hamlet of Doodletown, which was abandoned in 1965. Doodletown is full of rich history.
