Description
Added by Lucas Gashi
Take a 1.1 mile hike for an overnight at this secluded pond.
This is the perfect place to go fishing or camping, secluded in Harriman State Park. Island Pond is the only natural pond lake in the park. from Arden Valley Road taking the Appalachian Trail is only 1.1 miles to Island Pond, or coming from route 106 is only a mile on a carriage road to island pond, or you can buy the boat permit and the key for the pond at the park office, this way you'll be able to bring your raft or kayak and get to the secluded campsites.
There are a lot of beautiful campsites around the pond, although the best ones are inside and to reach them you would need a kayak. The pond is very secluded and beautiful surrounding mountains make this the perfect spot for night photography. Via the the carriage road also you could mountain bike to the pond. I love camping here and fishing for trout and having a beautiful cooked out dinner.
