This 600 acres of hardwood forest offers 12 miles of hiking trails and a bluff lookout over Long Island Sound.

With a beach on Long Island Sound, forested hikes, and reliable amenities, Wildwood State Park is a great spot for a weekend of outdoor activities, easily accessible by public transportation.

The Yellow Trail, a 3.8 mile loop, is a great way to tour the park, with many rest stops along the way. Stop in at Rest Stop No. 4 for a great bluff lookout over Long Island Sound, 150 feet above the beach. At the following intersection, turn left to head down to the beach, or continue to the next left, to return to camp. After some hilly inclines and descents, you will pass through a small pine forest and eventually arrive back at the campgrounds.

For more information on park permits visit Wildwood State Park Reservations or call (631) 929-4314. To get to the park by public transport, take the Long Island Rail Road to Riverhead, then it's a 15 minute taxi ride to the park.
