Beautiful hike with incredible views of the mountains.

Crows Nest Mountain is a hidden gem among the more popular and crowded trails in the area, I rarely see people doing this hike with several viewpoints where you can see Storm King, Breakneck, Sugarloaf and Mt. Taurus people are definitely missing out.

From N Rte. 9W parking lot is a 4-mile loop or you can start from Rte. 218 for a 3.5 mile hike, a straight-up climb up the Howell Trail.

Starting at Rte. 9W north side of the parking area, you will notice a triple blaze that marks the start of the Bobcat Trail you start slowly descending through blueberry bushes 0.5 miles from the start you reach the first junction. Usually at the junction I make a right to stay on the Bobcat trail and just run to the summit to catch the sunrise or sunset although if you're trying to do loop, instead of making a right at the junction keep going straight on Stillman Spring Trail to loop around to the summit of Crows Nest Mountain. The views from summit are absolutely gorgeous, on your left you have absolutely wicked views of Storm King Mountain and across the Hudson River you can see breakneck ridge, bull hill, Sugarloaf Mountain and mount beacon.
