Description

Added by Jerry Meagher

A good hike up Prospect Mountain just west of Lake George Village with great views of the Lake from the summit.

Hike starts at edge of Lake George and crosses by foot bridge over Interstate 87. Not an easy hike. Will see many people unprepared (physical shape, footwear, etc) doing the hike in spring and summer. Bring water, trekking poles if planning ahead. People leave branch walking sticks at start of climb; it's not a bad idea to take one if you did not bring poles. Bug spray is a must as you'll be in the forest for 3 hours. Good footwear (hiking shoes or boots) a must; the lower part of the trail is drainage and can be very wet and muddy after a rainfall.
