Mount Marcy is the highest point in the state of New York. The summit sits at 5,343, providing you with amazing views...which takes about ~7hrs. in total.
The hike does offer several different terrains and an elevation gain of 3170 feet, which can make you feel like it's going to be a long day. There are four routes for summiting Mount Marcy. This is the most popular route and leaves from the Adirondack Loj. Once you hit the trail, you will head up toward Marcy Dam, which if you're not camping at the Loj, makes for a good place to set up a base camp. Continuing on the trail, you'll get the heart rate up on a steep ascent to Indian Falls. The elevation gain calms a bit once you reach the falls and head to the tree line -- keep an eye out for changing weather as you start to head above the tree line.
Once you reach the summit, enjoy the views!

Hike Mount Marcy Reviews
I was not an avid hiker when I did this, but I was in good physical shape. I had only ever hiked flat trails before doing Marcy as my first mountain ever. It was a challenge, and at times I wanted to toss myself off the edge, but it was probably the most worthwhile thing I’ve ever done. I groaned and complained internally the entire time but I would do it again in a heartbeat. I ate a snickers bar at the summit and it was the most euphoric feeling ive ever had. 10/10

This is the highest of the 46 and a worthy objective. I did this over two days which made it more enjoyable. With it being one of the tallest it is also mostly above treeline which gives you 360 views for the top which makes for a great experience.

One of the most spectacular hikes I ever done. The very best of what nature has to offer that I’ve seen so far. Really worth it !!!

Great hike, great views !! Bring extra socks, your feet will get wet. Bring a first aide kit and take down the phone number of the park rangers before you start your hike-you are in the middle of no where. I came across a fella who broke his ankle on one of those rocks. I made my way up the Mt. in 5 hrs, coming down was harder. Bring some advil !! I had an old ITB injury come back and slowed me down The last 1/2 mile up was the hardest.

I love this hike although the 2 ish miles into the Dam area is tedious on the way out. Great, long hike to a bald summit!

I started at the Adk Loj trailhead It's about a 15.5 mile hike however me and my father were able to Hike marcy in a little over 7 hours. The hike is mostly up hill passing over creeks and streams BRING DECENT HIKING BOOTS most of the hike is up hill walking over rocks and pebbles etc. Also BRING INSECT REPELLANT i know what your saying but anyone who has hiked Marcy in the summer knows exactly what i'm talking about. At the summit of Marcy their are these tiny little mosquitos that fly around and torture you. Barring any mosquito interruption the view is absolutely breath taking looking down on Algonquin Peak and all the other peaks in ADK park is so breathtaking
