Incredible coastal hiking with pristine sandy beaches and vividly tropical water. One of New Zealand's Great Walks. 25km hike.

While the full track can take multiple days to complete, this adventure describes a section that can be completed in a long day hike.

Leaving from Marahau, take a water taxi north to Bark Bay. Here, you'll begin hiking south back to Marahau, a trip of around 25km. The trail winds down the coast, eventually reaching Torrent Bay, which if you time incorrectly can add mileage to your hike because of the high tide.

For a shorter hike, you can arrange for a water taxi to pick you up here, or continue south past beautiful bays and beaches back to your car in Marahau.

Hike the Abel Tasman Coast Track

This is probably one of the most scenic hiking trails there is. Easy gradient, never over 100mtr on very well maintained tracks. Great lodgings along the way with lots of friendly hikers to sit and chat with at day's end but the trail is not crowded, often you are walking alone for hours without seeing others. Plenty of forest, golden sand beaches, warm water, cozy inlets, hidden holiday homes, tidal crossings to keep you engaged in nature. We saw dolphins and seals swimming close to shore. Took my wife here on her first visit to New Zealand, she loved it! One of New Zealand's famous "Great Walks".

Abel Tasman Great walk is one of the best and most scenic hikes I've done. I've done a 3 day walk. Toraranui to Awaroa to Torrent Bay to Marahau.
