Enojy a very scenic hike down to the beach, which is great for relaxing, hiking around, and swimming in the summer. The hike back up is a bit strenuous but doable.

Dunedin is a small city on the Southeastern coast of the south island of New Zealand. The coastlines are stunning, and spending an afternoon exploring one of the beaches is never a bad idea. Tunnel Beach, just south of the city, is one of my favorites because of the natural tunnel that one of the rocks makes in the water, and the greenery around the beach on the hike.

To access the beach, there is a parking lot at the top of the hill, and there is a path leading down to the beach. The path is less than a mile long, with very scenic viewpoints along the way. There are also lots of opportunities to hike around different parts of the path to snap good photographs leading down to the beach.

Once you're on the beach, there are several boulders to hike up, and just hanging out on the beach is an option. The hike back up the hill is a bit challenging, as it is decently steep, but it's definitely fine for beginner hikers.

This is a brilliant location, the cliffs and waves crashing against them are awe inspiring. A short stroll to a great location.
