24 Photos from Our Night in the Lookout Bothy on Isle of Skye, Scotland

Our adventure to the Lookout Bothy on Isle of Skye, Scotland

By: Nick Edmundson + Save to a List

My fiancé, Danée, and I recently visited the beautiful island of Isle of Skye, Scotland. We had tons of hiking and camping adventures planned while in Skye but when we saw an adventure on The Outbound about the Bothy, we had to add it to our itinerary. The first mile or so of the hike is pretty flat and follows a pretty solid trail. Once you arrive at the split where the trail heads off to the left (and you take a right to get to the bothy), the trail starts to get a little harder to find. Oh, and it gets a LOT mushier. We would highly recommend a good waterproof pair of boots for this hike.

On our hike out to the bothy we passed some fellow hikers. After stopping and chatting with them for a few minutes, we found out they planned on staying in the bothy that night as well. Danée and I continued our hike and arrived at the bothy and got situated and took a few photos of the surrounding area. We also had to take a few minutes to make some hot coffee!! Later on our new friends, Nathanial and Louie, arrived back at the bothy. We spent the remainder of the evening enjoying a few beverages and sharing stories by candle light!!

It was a wee bit windy!

We've spotted the Bothy!

On the lookout for whales.
