Beautiful views of the Nanthala National Forest.

The Wayah Bald Lookout Tower is located in Nantahala National Forest in one of the oldest part of the protected land. It was first built in the 1920s then it was rebuilt throughout the years until it was finally made out of stone and concrete. The current tower that stands offers great views of the surrounding mountains and a 360 degree view.

To get there you must go up a gravel road for about 3 miles. It is open year round but during the winter it is sometimes not plowed making it impossible to get there unless you have a high clearance 4WD. The hike from the parking lot is only a few hundred feet and it is paved all the way there so its a great hike for elderly adults and kids.
