Hiking to one of Norway's most popular and beautiful attractions; Preikestolen, also known as Preacher's Pulpit or Pulpit Rock.
This hike is 4.8 miles round trip. Starting from the parking lot there is a well marked trail leading to the top of Preikestolen. It takes anywhere from 3-6 hours depending on your fitness level, your pace, or how many times you stop to admire the scenery. Trust me, there is a lot to be amazed by.
Over the years as Norway has gotten more attention from Tourists, this hike has become a Bucket List adventure. You are sure to be hiking with many others if you go during peak times of the day. If you wish to be alone I would strongly recommend planning to camp somewhere close to the top of the trail. This will give you the opportunity to watch the sunset and sunrise while also giving you the advantage of being there without many others.
Either way, you can't go wrong when hiking this trail. Whether it is a day hike or you decide to camp overnight. Be sure to bring a meal and some tea to have at the top while you take in the breathtaking surroundings and watch as daredevils hang their feet off of the cliff's edge for the thrill and the picture.
