Big Bear, California

Description

Added by Douglas Hall

Ever wanted a dispersed camping feel but still want a campground? Holcomb Valley is the place to go!

This campground is awesome! With great views, plenty of space and clean bathrooms it'll have you in for a treat! Whether it be a multiple day trip or just one night this campground is awesome. Read below for information if you are looking for a trip in the mountains!

Cost:

This campground is a bit pricey, it is $21 per night on a first come first serve basis. You also need to pay an extra $5 per night for an extra vehicle. There are no reservations so be prepared to get there at the start of the weekend or you may not get a spot.

Campground Details:

There are bathrooms that are non-flushing, there are no showers. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table and access to a shared bathroom. There is plenty to do around the campground, including mountain biking and hiking. Also be prepared to see wildlife as you are high up in the mountains so you will see plenty of wildlife. There is also a scenic loop you can explore on a road called 3N05, this road goes around the campground far enough that you will not hear people traveling on it. You get to see sites from miners, the cabin pictured above was one of the sites you can explore. You are also a short drive to town in case you need supplies!

Overall this campground was an awesome choice. It is maintained great, has an amazing amount of things to do while you are visiting and gives you an awesome wilderness feel! It is a must do for outdoor enthusiast like myself.
