Photograph an amazing sunset over the mountains and ocean from Sunset Beach. Get there early to swim, surf or fish while you wait for the beautiful sunset. Afterward, head across the street to Don The Beachcomber for Don's famous Rum drinks and Tiki Bar!

Sunset Beach is located just 9 miles south of Long Beach and 6 miles North of Huntington Beach, CA on the famous Pacific Coast Highway 1. I accessed Sunset Beach from the South on I-405. I took exit 22 for Seal Beach. After the exit I turned a left/west on Seal Beach Blvd and drove for 2.6 miles until I reached CA-1. I turned left/south and drove for 2 miles. After 2 miles find public parking near the beach and walk to Sunset Beach.

From here, hike, swim, and surf along the beach to find the best place to photograph the sunset and surrounding area. Once the sun goes down, walk over to Don The Beachcomber and grab a rum drink at the Tiki Bar.

Sunset Beach Reviews

I prefer this part of the beach, and at the busier Huntington Beach. Too many people up there but here you’ll be able to find a secluded place to call your own. Bring a picnic in a blanket and watch the sunset.

Nice place to bring a picnic and stay until dark. Not as crowded as HB

This is a nice beach to hangout, go for a swim or watch the sunset.

If you're looking for a little more action, Huntington Beach would be my recommendation, but this is a great little beach that stretches on forever. Great food options in town too.

This is an underrated part of Huntington Beach. It's less crowded than the beaches closer to the pier.

This is just a huge stretch of beach in north, north Huntington Beach, just before you get to Seal. There is a quaint little community that surrounds this area and some good restaurants as well. Awesome place for sunset photos.
