Description

Added by Scott Sichler

Murray Hill via Araby Trail is a hike with panoramic views of the Palm Springs area.

Murray Hill is the highest point in the surrounding trail system. You can access it from Araby Trail or anyone of the others in the area. It's about 9 miles round-trip and a healthy 2,850 vertical feet gain.

From the top of the Shannon Trail bear right until you reach the Wildhorse Trailhead. Go left at the trailhead. After a mile the trail will climb steeply along the ridge lines. There are picnic tables at the base of Murray Hill if you want to enjoy lunch before heading back down.

Key Notes:

Carry plenty of water even in Winter.

Pack a lunch or snack and enjoy at the picnic tables on top.

Pack extra layers as the weather can change rapidly. Once the sun goes down the temperature will drop. I keep a space blanket in my pack just in case.

Pack a wide brim hat that can help keep you cool.

Include tweezers with your first aid kit in case you get too close to cactus.

Check weather conditions before setting out. Summers are extremely hot. Araby Drive is subject to flooding and can be closed.
