Description

Added by Aaron Rickel Jones

This striking rock pillar is a great photo spot for those brave enough to stand on top! No rock climbing experience necessary.

Park at the Hidden Valley Nature Trailhead. Instead of going into Hidden Valley, follow the obvious climber's trails to the Southwest for about 3/4 mile keeping the rocks of Hidden Valley on your right. The trail wraps around the outside edge of Hidden Valley, turning Northwest. After about 20 minutes you'll be there! You can't miss the distinctive spire sticking up from the rocks.

To get to the top, scramble around the backside of the spire and make a few easy 5th class moves to the summit. Although not very difficult, the climbing is exposed and dangerous. A fall could lead to serious injury. Know your limits, exercise good judgement, have your buddy spot your landing, and stay safe out there.

Don't forget to snap a picture!

**although this can be done year round, Joshua Tree is absurdly hot during the summer. This is most enjoyable as a Spring or Fall trip**
