Great place to pull up a chair and watch the sunset after catching some waves. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore once you've tackled the sand dunes.
The trailhead is located at the public parking area off Kiwanda Drive in Pacific City. Parking is usually not a problem if you go during the off season, but you can always just drive right up on the beach and stash your things there. There are ropes available at difficult points in the hike to aid you.For the surf enthusiasts, theres an annual surf contest that is held every August called the longboard classic. Surfers such as John Peck and Gerry Lopez have attended. Beware of possible shark danger and be sure to check out the swells at Cape Meares and Cape lookout while you're in the area.
