Hike to Mt. Hood's Mirror Lake

Rhododendron, Oregon

Quick hike with amazing Mt. Hood and lake viewsEasy accessLakeside camping spots

An easy trail to access right off Highway 26, it is often very popular and crowded, especially on the weekends. Be prepared to get there early or wait in line for a parking spot. A recreation pass is required.

The trail is an easy 2.1 mile roudtrip hike. You'll begin through dense tree cover for the first half of the trail. At about the halfway point you'll start hiking up switchbacks with a 700' elevations change. Occasionally you'll get a peek through the trees of the valley.

Once you are almost to the lake, you'll see a sign pointing to the Mirror Lake Trail loop to the right or left. We chose to go to the left but they both end up at the same place...a loop around the lake.

Make sure to stop at the viewpoint near the boardwalks, as this is where you will see a great Mt. Hood reflection in the lake on a clear day.

It's a gorgeous quick hike that's worth it, especially on a clear day.
