Description

Added by Dan Moe

Tumalo Falls is a family-friendly 1 mile roundtrip hike if you head only to the upper viewpoint.

The viewpoint is only footsteps from the parking area, and gives the best view of the 89-foot falls. A half mile trail leads visitors up to the upper viewpoint, right next to the falls. From there, Middle Tumalo Falls is around one and a quarter miles up the trail and Happy Valley is around three miles and a thousand feet up.

Along the way, there are a dozen or so smaller waterfalls and scenic pools. On the way back to the parking area, there is an unmarked (and very unofficial) trail that leads to the base of the falls, affording a chance to hike behind the falls themselves.

Tumalo Falls Reviews

Took my niece and nephew up this trail and we loved it! Nice and shaded and a handful of waterfalls along the way

Yep

Parking lot was still closed due to ice and snow on the road. It’s about a 2.5 mile drive to the parking lot of the falls. And then another 1 mile to get up to the view point of the falls. Since the road was closed everyone parked at the gate and walked up. Not an awful walk in. If you want to get to the waterfall itself, instead of the viewpoint, you’ll need to hike up near the creek, the viewpoint only goes up to the top of the fall and past.

I did this hike in the winter, which was very cool. The waterfall, while not frozen, was rushing and so very blue. The road to drive up there was closed so we hiked all the way in from the main road. It was a long hike but the end was worth it.

Great trail, first falls is just steps from the parking lot. 3.5 miles to the third falls. Elevation gain is so gradual you hardly notice. Parking lot is busy busy busy. Get there early or late afternoon for best parking availability.

Just visited Bend for the first time and would highly recommend the Tumalo Falls hike. Great for dogs, easy to get to and there are several more trails, so you can play all day. However, during winter the paved road becomes dangerously icy.
