Description

Great, short hike with camp sites at the lake. In the summer the lake is great for swimming - watch your toes or the crayfish may nibble on them.

This hike starts at the Fir Tree Trailhead and is an out and back 2.8 mile round trip. It's short, but there's 660 feet of elevation gain. To start, you climb steeply then it's an easy hike to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the lake. The trail descends via switchbacks down to the lake for the last 0.7'ish of a mile.

I call this beginner because it's short, but the first section is quite steep and may be a challenge for some. This can be a great day hike for anyone wanting to enjoy a mountain lake or a short backpacking trip.

Be sure to bring your own water and water filter.

There aren't many campsites and they do fill up on the weekends.

Lake Coordinates: 45.2561524,-121.78583

Veda Lake Trail Reviews

Great hike if you are trying to escape the more popular nearby Trillium Lake. Short distance makes this a good, but steep, trail run. Wear bug spray! The road was also pretty gnarly. I recommend high clearance and 4WD.
