Huge trail system with awesome mountain views.

Bend, Oregon has a deserved reputation as one of the top mountain bike destinations in the country. Unless you are from the area, you might not be familiar with nearby Sisters. Sisters is a sleepy western-themed town of 3,000 better known for it's annual rodeo and quilt festival but the locals have been quietly building a vast mountain bike trail system with the Peterson Ridge Trail as the star attraction.

The trail starts on the outskirts of town and offers a mostly flowy smooth singletrack with an occasional lava rock garden to keep you on your toes. Once you climb through the ponderosa pine forest the views of the nearby Sisters Mountains and Cascade Range are truly stunning. Follow the signs for the PRT West for the best views and loop back on the PRT East. The trail is well signed but as there are multiple trails in the system it's a good idea to pick up a free map at the trail head, online, or at a local bike shop. Blazin Saddles is close by if you need to rent a bike, repair, or just some friendly local knowledge.
