Salt Creek Falls is Oregon's second tallest waterfall (286 ft). This easy to access waterfall (~100 feet from the car) offers great photo opportunities and hikes nearby.
Located off of the 58 Freeway, Salt Creek Falls is the second tallest waterfall in Oregon. The powerful cascade pours into a scenic canyon below, with beautiful surrounding views. You can drive almost right up to the falls, which is either great or anti-climactic, depending on your outlook.
Turn off the freeway at the easily visible signs for Salt Creek Falls, then make your first right and head about a half mile to the parking lot. From there, it's only 100 feet or so until you reach the upper viewpoints. You also have the option of hiking along a winding scenic path a few hundred feet down to the base of the falls.
The parking lot is closed during the winter months depending on snow. Don't worry, you can still park next to the gate and walk in a half mile. Depending on the snowfall, snowshoes may be necessary.
If you are still yearning for a little more of a hike after seeing Salt Creek Falls, worry not. Head back to the parking lot and follow signs for Diamond Creek Falls, a 3 mile hike with beautiful lookouts and great access to the beautiful Diamond Falls.

Salt Creek Falls Reviews
Came across this spot on a recent road trip. The waterfall is incredible and can't wait to go back.

My friend and I walked the "Vivian Lake" trail in late June. Unfortunately, we were ATTACKED by mosquitos for the entire trail. On the bright side, the massive waterfalls were awesome and the trail was clearly labeled with blue diamonds.

Not much of a hike in the spring, summer, or fall, but gorgeous. The trail does continue to another waterfall... Diamond Falls.

This is a great falls right by the parking lot. Only thing that would be nice is if you could get down to the bottom easier to take pictures.

Salt Creek Falls is one of my personal favorites as far as waterfalls in Oregon go; the waterfall is nearly 300 ft tall, and is one of the more powerful streams that I have been to (so far). The hike is relatively easy, but the very last section of the trail (below the second vantage point) took some damage from a rock slide a while back, so getting to the valley floor is a bit of a steep decent, but definitely worth checking out if you go when there's not a ton of snow. I have gone mid-May and caught perfect sunny conditions, with almost nobody else out there, and just recently went again at the end of January with tons of beautiful powdery snow. Salt Creek Falls is definitely worth checking out if you enjoy seeing Oregon's waterfalls! I suggest going in winter (dress for tons of powdery snow and take a vehicle that can handle snowy conditions), or late spring
