Surf Smuggler Cove
Nehalem, Oregon
Description
Added by George Bruce Wilson
Great spot to Surf. If you've got your wetsuit, you can jump in for a swim. Great spot to have a beach bonfire. Exploring tide pools.
The beach in Oswald West State Park is one of the more secluded beaches on the Oregon coast. Most tourists tend to stay by Canon Beach and Seaside, Oregon, so this little gem gets much less traffic.
The parking lot is right on the highway with plenty of parking, a bathroom, and a drinking fountain. You hike under the freeway and down a well groomed path for about a half a mile. Eventually, you arrive at Smugglers Cove, and it is beautiful. This is possibly one of the best beaches to be on. This spot is very popular for surfing so count on sharing some water. The beach is much larger than at first glance and is pretty shallow so you can walk pretty far out there. It's definitely one of the most scenic places to surf. Practice leave no trace ethics. No camping is allowed at the beach.
